Below you will find links to a series of Gimkit Quizzes. Clicking on these links will take you outside of the Legonium website. Each quiz is set to be completed in 15 minutes, or until you reach $1,000,000.
Frequency Quizzes
These sets are based on the Latin Core Vocabulary produced by Dickinson College, a list of the 1000 most frequently seen words found across a wide sample of Latin literature. Dickinson College very generously allows their work to be used by others in the teaching and learning of Latin.
How does it work?
The answer to each question is the FIRST form of the word given in a standard Latin dictionary. That is, the nominative singular of nouns and pronouns (eg: animus, ego), the masculine nominative singular of adjectives (eg: laetus) and the first person singular present of verbs (eg: possum).
Please note that the definitions given are not extensive, but only the most commonly glossed ‘meaning’ of each word. Also note that these quizzes will not help you to learn a word’s morphology. Still, knowing the basic meaning of 1000 Latin words is a worthwhile goal. I hope that these quizzes help you to achieve it.
I will be working on these sets as time permits.
